Hitting the streets of Onehunga

There is a lot of research (and media) undertaken about how people get around Auckland. As town centre planning progresses there are discussions about car parking, access to public transport and pedestrian rights-of-way. Onehunga is no exception to these discussions.

There is evidence to show that active transport users (walkers, riding, using public transport) are more likely to spend longer in a town centre and enjoy what there is on offer.

This month the Onehunga Business Association, in conjunction with MRCagney, will be conducting online and face-to-face research to better understand how shoppers come to the town centre. We want to hear from you.

Visit our website: onehunga.nz and you will be directed to a survey to complete. Alternatively, OBA team members will be out talking to people on the street capturing feedback on some days in September.

Thanks to the support of the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board, this data collection will help us to identify how our visitors get here, how they would prefer to travel and therefore it will assist our planning in conjunction with Eke Panuku, Auckland Transport and Auckland Council.

In other business news, between September-November, the Onehunga Business Association is hosting hyper local business networking meetings around Onehunga. The purpose of these is to meet businesses around the wider community to help them better understand our business improvement district (BID) expansion. If this affects you, then you will hear from us soon!
