New year, new opportunities in Onehunga

It has been great to see Onehunga town centre so busy over the last few weeks. People have been enjoying our cafes and shops in this lovely weather. I know the businesses appreciate it after a quiet December so thank you for your support.

You will notice a few changes in the town centre. A couple of businesses have unfortunately had to close but others will be opening soon. The construction at the new apartment complexes are well underway and due to open later in 2023. Change is exciting but ultimately we do not want to loose the essence of Onehunga – our diversity and friendly people are what makes us so special.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to the return of the Onehunga Festival to the Onehunga Bay Reserve on 4 March. The event includes a variety of free activities, music and stalls including many food trucks. We also welcome back the cardboard boat race which the Aotea Sea Scouts ran with great success in 2021. Everyone is welcome between 10.30-3pm – come for the day!

In 2023, the Onehunga Business Association is launching a new Women in Business network as part of our extended offering of professional events. The success of women in our business community is critical for the overall achievements of our community. Making connections and learning from each other is so important! The first women’s network event is on 9 February and you can find more information on our website: www.onehunga.net.nz/women-in-business.

We have also launched our Associate Membership package for businesses who operate outside of the town centre business improvement district (BID) boundary. This will give you access to many of our member benefits and is fantastic if you operate your business from your home. You can also find details about this on our website.
