Doing sustainable business smartly in Onehunga

The business community is currently facing an uncertain future. Between Covid lockdowns, climate change and international import delays there is a lot of insecurity. Businesses can also see this as an opportunity to look at options to improve their approach and outcome.

In March, the Onehunga Business Association (OBA) is hosting two business events:

  1. 1. Sustainable Hair & Beauty Workshop
  2. 2. Business Networking Breakfast.

These events plan to put like-minded people together to find solutions.

Over the last 12-18 months the OBA has been focused on how we can help our businesses to be more sustainable – are they doing all that they can be to reduce waste and find the best long-term solutions. In November we hosted a hospitality workshop connecting suppliers to find great sustainable solutions for food waste, green waste and to reduce one-use coffee cups.

In March we have invited Sustainable Salons to come and share their insights into how small changes can make a huge impact. We hope that Onehunga salons, barbers and therapists all take time to come and learn more. This is also open to anyone who is interested in sustainable solutions for these services and we invite you to participate in the workshop. More details are available on our events page on www.onehunga.net.nz.

Our business networking breakfasts are popular early morning sessions where we look to find the useful topics and speakers to share their insights. Unfortunately, in 2020 we had to cancel both of our breakfasts but, all things going well, on 23 March we will host our first 2021 event. Our keynote speaker at this occasion is John Carr, a business advisor from Auckland Unlimited, to share insights into how Auckland Council can assist businesses over the coming year. All business owners with a connection to Onehunga are welcome to attend our breakfast series.

Start your 2021 with a positive mindset and come join us at one of our March business events here in Onehunga.
