Thank you for your continued support –Put the Christmas Parade in your diaries

Once again Onehunga finds itself in Level Three lockdown. There have been noticeable differences for our town centre businesses this time with more people, more shops able to open (they had applied for permission from Ministry of Business & Innovation last lockdown) and generally more people out and about. Your local support has been invaluable to many as most of our hospitality venues, cafés, bakeries etc, are managed by owner-operators and more than one has said they were quiet, but it was better than being closed!

The Onehunga Business Association has agreed to continue with our Christmas Parade this year despite the uncertainty over any funding support we may have previously received. Please mark 11am on Saturday 21 November in your diaries. More details, including an event registration form for parade participants, is available at www.onehunga.net.nz in our events section.

This annual event to kick-off the Christmas season is one way that our business community can thank you for your support over this turbulent time. In light of Covid-19 we do plan to do things a little different this year with a spread of activities such as face painting and balloon twisting to encourage people south in Onehunga Mall as the crowd can be unevenly distributed. We are also looking at other options to ensure we have good social distancing out on the street as well as contact tracing measures.

If you would like to be a volunteer marshal at the Christmas Parade, then please also visit our events page to register your details. Support is really appreciated to keep our community safe and ensure the fun stuff can continue.
