Waikaraka Footpath Works – Archived

The NZ Transport Agency and Auckland Transport will soon begin construction of a timber boardwalk and footpath linking to the existing walkway alongside Waikaraka Park, Onehunga. There will also be improvements made to the signalised pedestrian crossings at the Neilson Street/Captain Springs Road intersection. Work is scheduled to commence on Monday 17th October and will take up to four weeks to complete, weather permitting.

How will it affect you?

  • Neilson Street will remain open to traffic; however with a shoulder closure in place and parking restrictions
  • Pedestrian access will remain; however some diversions may be necessary
  • Traffic management will be in place through the work

There will be some noise with heavy machinery and trucks moving in the area, but disruption will be kept to a minimum as much as possible. Hours of work are 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday. If this is delayed by weather, work will take place on the next fine day.
