Church & Victoria Streets
27 December – 13 January 2020
A raised roundabout is being constructed at this busy intersection between November and February. There will also be four pedestrian crossings added to provide better connections and improve pedestrian safety. There will be other improvements such as footpath widening and kerb realignment.
Initially this project has had temporary road changes but from 27 December for the entire intersection will be closed completely. This time will allow for the raised intersection to be completed.
There will be a period of approximately six days whereby there will be no visible works on the site, though the full road closure will still be in place. This is due to the requirement of asphalt used requiring the said amount of time for it to cure, enabling the high-friction surfacing to be applied immediately afterwards.
Neilson Street road reconstruction
26 December – 6 January 2020
During the works, Neilson Street will be closed to traffic approaching from Selwyn Street towards Onehunga Mall. Access will be as usual for traffic using Neilson street in the direction of Onehunga Mall towards Selwyn street.
This work is substantial. This work involves digging out the road to a depth 400mm and rebuilding it with a new concrete base and layers of structural asphalt. Please be assured that we have considered several construction methodologies before deciding on this option. This option is the quickest, and utilises the most up to date road construction technologies available to us. With this in mind, we have taken advantage of the New Year break and will be working some nights to minimise impact on your businesses and your customers.
Please note: There will be no access onto Selwyn street from Neilson Street, a diversion will be in place assisting road users accordingly.
This work is weather sensitive and dates may change accordingly.
