Think of yourself as a sailor, captain or designer? Now is your chance to get sailing at the 2021 Onehunga Cardboard Boat Regatta on Saturday 27 February.

Coordinated by the Aotea Sea Scouts, the regatta is designed for wannabe sailors who see themselves in the next America's Cup squad. Teams must create a boat using a combination of cardboard, corflute, duct tape and glue. They are then painted with waterproof paint and are launched across the lagoon.

Prizes will be rewarded for:

  • Fastest crossing
  • Best sinking
  • Best looking boat

There is $20 fee for each boat entered into the race. Aotea Sea Scouts have some corflute available for registered master designers.
