Changing the rail corridor designation

Submission to the draft Regional Land Transport Plan

Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board and the Onehunga Business Association are both requesting to the Auckland Transport Governing Board to advocate to KiwiRail and Waka Kotahi to reconsider the designation through Onehunga and explore utilising the existing State Highway 20 corridor instead.

The draft Regional Land Transport Plan is open for consultation this month. Included in this plan, is protection of the Avondale - Southdown corridor for longer-term capacity and resilience of the wider rail network.

Any future designation would be detrimental to Onehunga businesses so your support to get this reviewed would be appreciated.

You are welcome to utilise our letter as part of your submission. You are also welcome to include a copy of this map. It is a crude interpretation but our intention is to show that there is a simple solution that is not nearly as disruptive.
