New Executive Committee for the upcoming year! : Onehunga Business Association

All of the existing Executive Committee for the Onehunga Business Association (OBA) have elected to return for the next financial year with the addition of Associate Member, Shamus O'Donnell from No Shock Electrical.

The new committee is always the highlight of the OBA Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is generally taken by administration tasks of reviewing the year. In addition, to the new committee the attendees of the AGM also gave the management team to go ahead with the ballot for the expansion of the business improvement district (BID) in 2024.

Over the last two years the committee and office team have been pursuing an expansion of our town centre boundaries to include the full commercial district of Onehunga - between Beachcroft Ave in the west to Captain Springs Road in the east up to Trafalgar Street and the Manukau Harbour. This has seen a massive expansion of the database and knowledge of the business district and also many engagements with business owners/managers getting support for the proposal.

OBA manager Amanda Wellgreen is pleased to have the support of the existing members to pursue the expansion in early 2024.

"My team have been working with Auckland Council to identify the best boundary for the Onehunga BID. We have walked the streets, meeting different people, understanding their needs and introducing ourselves and what benefits an expansion of the business association would bring.

Overall, we have found much support from the business community as they grapple with different issues including an increase in graffiti, flooding issues from a high water table in Onehunga and the impact of large infrastructure projects."

The continued engagement with the wider Onehunga business community is representative by the Executive Committee members that now include representation from business owners in the expanded area.
